They go from left to right clockwise around the room. For scale this is a 10&#8217;x10&#8242; room. I wish I had more room but I am glad to have a radio room and test bench again! Atop the 51S1- is a <strong>Heathkit SB-620<\/strong> &#8220;Scanalyzer&#8221;. On the right is a Hammarlund <strong>HQ-129-X<\/strong> general coverage HF receiver. Partially out of frame above it is a 34&#8243; Samsung monitor connected to an HDMI switch that takes feeds from an ATSC tuner, a Roku media box, the Raspberry Pi you can&#8217;t see and a laptop computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image1-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image1-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image1-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image1-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image1-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next bench, left to right: <strong>Central Electronics 200V<\/strong> HF transmitter with a <strong>Sideband Engineers SBE-34<\/strong> HF transceiver on top of it and a <strong>Bird 43<\/strong> directional watt-meter on top of that. Then a <strong>Collins 75A-4<\/strong> receiver with a <strong>Kenwood R-2000<\/strong> general coverage receiver above it. On the bench is an <strong>Astatic D-104<\/strong> microphone, a <strong>Heathkit SA-5010 CW keyer<\/strong> and a set of <strong>Bencher paddles<\/strong>. On the right is an <strong>E.F. Johnson Viking Adventurer <\/strong>CW HF transmitter on top and below it an <strong>E.F. An <strong>HP 8657A<\/strong> RF signal generator and an <strong>HP 5328A<\/strong> frequency counter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image4-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image4-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image4-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image4-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image4-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/ve6bc.radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image4-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the test bench, where the real fun happens! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The upper shelf holds a bunch of VHF and UHF handheld radios of various types as well as speakers for the mobile radios below. In addition there is a <strong>Bird 4304A<\/strong> directional RF watt-meter, a <strong>Heathkit line voltage monitor<\/strong> and a <strong>Staco Variac<\/strong>. A <strong>Sideband Engineers<\/strong> desk mic lurks to the right of the Variac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lower shelf holds a number of VHF and UHF mobile radios with 12V power supplies, a <strong>Fluke 110<\/strong> true RMS DMM, an <strong>HP 427A<\/strong> voltmeter, an <strong>HP 204C<\/strong> oscillator, an <strong>HP 6220B<\/strong> variable DC power supply and a <strong>CT Systems 3000B<\/strong> communications analyzer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the bench itself there is a <strong>Tektronix 2246<\/strong> oscilloscope, a <strong>Simpson 260<\/strong> VOM, a <strong>Tektronix 157<\/strong> DMM, a <strong>GW Instek SFG-1013<\/strong> function generator, a <strong>Weller WE-1010<\/strong> soldering station and an <strong>EICO 1030<\/strong> high voltage power supply (400 Volts, baby!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The under-shelf lighting are LED strips from IKEA and there is a heavy duty anti-static mat on the bench top. That&#8217;s the current state of the ham shack. This isn&#8217;t my first ham shack but it is the best one to date. Having been out of the hobby for nearly 25 years I wanted my next ham shack to be a proper one.
